It has been 12 months that we paid 5,000 Baht a month for a 100Mbps Fiber Optic line down here in Rayong. And what could we do with it? Open websites. No, not much more. Streaming radio stations were almost impossible. But they always worked on my DTAC 3G connection. Downloading large files? Nope, 9 out of 10 times they were corrupt. Using it for our remote service? Nope, because after one minute of inactivity, we get disconnected.
Every now and then, we came to our Office in the morning and the TRUE modem was reset. Why? Because TRUE updated our Firmware. Our customers could not connect to our system and we had to spent time to setup the modem again. I wonder what a normal home user would do, they wouldn’t have any clue on how to setup a modem.

Calling TRUE Support is a joy, they are really customer friendly. Usually they just hang up on you. Other times they promise to send technicians. Once the technician indeed comes (with many days delay) they tell us to call TRUE Support. And so it goes round and round and round.

The Supervisor visited me the other day, a Supervisor which doesn’t have any clue about anything. I assume he was the supervisor of the toilet cleaning team.

And now? I call it quit. I give up. I will cancel TRUE and stick with the much slower, but more reliable 3BB.
I learnt now, why TRUE insisted initially on a one year contract. Otherwise we would have cancelled that crappy shit after the first week. Those retarded supporters, supervisors and sales, they’ll never understand the meaning of “Customer Service”.
12 months of complains and nothing happened. TRUEly a rip off.

Legal music and movies in Asian countries ….

Today I want to rant about those copyright protection organizations, mainly led by U.S. Government and therefore about those governments involved as well.
First of all I would like to apologize in advance for any possible rudeness in this post. The first rudeness shall follow right away. You guys are the biggest bunch of arseholes I can think of.
I wonder if not every time you push Asian governments to crackdown on piracy and they are successful, you sit in your Office chair and hammer your forehead trying to w*** because of your alleged success.
But you know, not those are the real criminals.
The real criminals are Apple, Amazon, Pandora, Netflix, Hulu, Spotify, Rhapsody and many more. And of course all the major record labels.
You wanna know why? Because they do not offer music, movies, tv shows etc. to most Asian countries. Much more than that, they block any attempt if you try to legally buy them or stream.
If you have an account on Amazon or iTunes USA and you have a Credit Card with Thai billing address you are already out of luck. They’ll tell you to go shit. Nice, right?
I subscribed to Pandora and Spotify for streaming music. I am forced to use VPN connections to pretend I am in the USA in order to be able to listen to their music.
We people here in Asia are second class people. We don’t get anything.
Even most radio stations try to block listeners from unsupported countries. They identify you by your IP address, a stupid bunch of numbers which tells them where you are, how you look like and what your shoe size is. That’s what the new technology brings us.
It makes us visible for them, they can trace every single step you do. And they tell you, that you are not allowed to listen music, watch movies or tv shows.
They tell you to go to bed early instead.

As a matter of fact, in Thailand and most other Asian countries, you can only by CDs or DVDs if you wanna stay legal. Buying CDs? Uhhh…. come one, I have iPad, iPhone, AppleTV. Where the heck you want me to insert a damned CD into? This is the digital age and we all have a right for that.
I never read any explanation why they don’t offer music etc. in Asian countries.
You really won’t find any legal place where you can legally purchase and download music yet stream on the internet.

I always told people to not steal copyright protected software, but for what reason? Many software is in SE Asia triple the price compared to the USA?
Sample? Filemaker, Adobe products ….

I always told people to honor the artists and legally purchase the music. They asked me “where”? I told them “steal it”.

That entire system is quite a shit. They don’t sell you food but punish you if you steal it. They force people to steal music because there is no other way to get it.

But the real bastards are those who prevent the music and movies to be sold in so many countries. And they are the ones who should be jailed because they willingly limit your right just because of the country you live in, in other words, they discriminate you.
It’s not so much different when until a few years ago in the USA, the negroes had to sit in the back of public transportation vehicles, were prohibited to enter certain restaurants etc.
I feel like a negro now even though I am white. I never thought about racism and discrimination but now they put me in those shoes. Because I live in a SE Asian country, I am a second class human without the right to buy music, movies and tv shows.

Ok, let’s the party begin, let’s torrent. Let’s download thousands, no millions of songs, distribute them and if they blame you for stealing, just answer with a smile “sell it to me motherf…..”.

We all experienced that problem already. Somebody sends you a document and you have to sign it and send back.
But you received it on your iPad, what now? Usual steps would be to send the mail to a computer, print it out, sign it, scan it, transfer it back to your iPad and then send it out.
Huh …. who wanna go through such a process.

Filemaker’s way to rip off their customers

I am most happy with our Filemaker database and a happy Filemaker customer since years.
But now they shit on their customers and that’s nothing we should tolerate.

We have multiple licenses of Filemaker Pro 11 and actually we started with Filemaker 9 Pro. Of course every new version was downward compatible.

Now they released version 12 and for our most recent FM 11 Pro purchase, they sent us a free upgrade.
And then wow …. I found out, that we can’t open FM 11 databases anymore. I couldn’t believe my eyes. A new version and not downward compatible.

Well ok I thought, so they have to continue selling the older v.11 as well. Bullshit, they don’t.
They are forcing us to upgrade ALL our licenses which costs of course big $$$.

We recommended Filemaker to a couple of our clients as well and if any of them just needs one damn single new license because they hire one more staff, they need to spend thousands of Dollars to upgrade ALL their licenses incl. Filemaker Server.

Now how wicked is that. I feel cheated having spent so much money on FM licenses and now they force me to purchase upgrades although I don’t want them.

Filemaker, you lost a good friend. That really sucks. Even I don’t have a choice as my business is running on your database, I will never ever recommend Filemaker to anyone again unless you start selling version 11 along the new versions you have and will release in the future.

Failures of Apple Thailand Management Team

Why don’t we get the new iPad faster? Why can’t we still buy Apple keyboards with Thai letters on it? This and many more questions should be questions answered by the Apple Management Thailand Team. Their mistakes and inabilities in improving Apple Market Share in Thailand will eventually lead to failure of Apple in Thailand (apart from iPhone).
It is still not understandable why Apple USA let them do that miserable job since years although they couldn’t improve anything and customer service is getting worse and worse.
An Apple care manager who leaves for 5 weeks vacation without a deputy and any warranty issues will have to wait is someone who should be put a show in his ……!
And an Apple Country Manager who doesn’t care and support it’s Apple Authorized Resellers but kick them out if they just once stand up and say that he is not doing his job properly, should be sent to the moon.

The Mac will not see any rise in Thailand if this team doesn’t get changed. And YOU will be one of the last to get any new Apple product simply because Thailand is of low interest for Apple unless market share can proof otherwise.

iPhone warranty NOT worldwide

It’s pretty much unknown that the iPhone is the only Apple product which is not entitled for a worldwide warranty.
Therefore careful when you purchase grey-imported iPhones or order yourself from another country. You won’t get the repaired in your home country. Again, this only applies to the iPhone, not to the iPad or any other product.
